Choose around actual dimensions and the opening of your bag. Small, medium and large are product labels, not universal measurements.
Three measurements, taken inside.
Empty your bag and place it in its usual open position. Measure the usable length, width and depth of the compartment you want to fill. Account for curved corners, wheel housings, dividers and pockets.
Measure the space
Record interior measurements in one unit. Exterior luggage measurements include parts an organizer cannot use.
Measure the opening
A compartment can be wider than its opening. Check whether a filled organizer can pass through without being forced.
Allow for the complete load
Compare the organizer's filled or expanded dimensions when those are provided. Reserve room for other belongings and for the bag to close comfortably.
Read the listing as a whole

Choose the grouping you will use.
A single organizer can keep one category together. Several smaller organizers can divide items by person, activity or point in the trip. More pieces only help when their sizes work with your belongings and bag.
Sketch your bag's interior on paper and draw the proposed organizers to the same scale. Then check the depth separately. A flat layout is a useful first check, but does not confirm a three-dimensional fit.
